About the Role
Join a leading aviation training organization in Riyadh as a Senior Flight Simulator Engineer supporting Riyadh Air’s new training center. This role provides hands-on experience with cutting-edge simulator technologies and systems, fostering ongoing professional growth and advancement within the technical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to Flight Simulator Training Devices and other related equipment by attending maintenance calls, configuring devices, assisting with simulator flight tests, demo setups, and resolving defects.
- Independently conduct preventive maintenance tasks, daily readiness checks, recurrent qualification test guide runs, and updates of aircraft databases and lesson plans, ensuring compliance with standards and timely resolution of any issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot device malfunctions, including urgent repairs and issues raised by regulatory authorities; perform hardware refurbishments and system modifications.
- Identify recurring problems and implement lasting solutions; monitor systems and track maintenance via computerized management software, generating performance and trend reports for management.
- Possibly lead shifts or teams, acting autonomously to manage assigned responsibilities and develop or update operational procedures.
- Collaborate with technical specialists on complex problems and special projects to meet operational needs.
- Mentor junior engineers through on-the-job training and support during advanced maintenance activities to cultivate technical expertise in specific simulator systems.
- Adhere to local and international environmental health and safety standards, ensuring a safe work environment for oneself and others.
- Prioritize and coordinate maintenance tasks, keep accurate documentation, and ensure readiness for regulatory evaluations.
- Work to meet service level agreements and performance KPIs, ensuring critical issues are addressed promptly.
- Participate in technical meetings, audits, and evaluations, stepping in for managerial roles as needed, and liaising with customer service on business-critical matters.
- Contribute to team performance appraisals, employee development planning, and conduct training workshops to enhance the skills of technical staff.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or degree in electronics, electrical, mechanical, aeronautical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Strong motivation and customer-oriented mindset capable of tactful communication.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and effective team player with initiative and minimal supervision required.
- Capability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
- Solid understanding of aircraft and flight simulator device terminology and ability to interpret technical schematics and documents.
- Competence in carrying out preventive and readiness maintenance tasks on flight simulators.
- Knowledge of analog and digital circuit theory and strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with test equipment and diagnostic software tools.
- Understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, motion systems, and visual systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
- Basic knowledge of mainframe architecture, networking, operating systems (Windows NT/XP, UNIX, Linux, AIX), and programming languages including C, C++, and FORTRAN.
- Good knowledge of relevant local and international aviation standards and regulations (EASA, FAA).
