Position Summary

The Senior Energy Consultant will spearhead energy sector initiatives across the Middle East, leading technical delivery covering electricity networks, renewable projects, energy storage, system integration, strategy development, and advisory services. This role entails independent technical execution, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, client interactions, proposal leadership, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Duties

  • Engage in multidisciplinary energy projects focusing on electricity networks.
  • Partner with local leadership to develop and execute the Middle East Energy growth strategy and business plan.
  • Lead and support business development activities, including proposals and technical input to secure and manage projects.
  • Manage and deliver diverse technical workstreams related to network, renewable, storage, integration, and strategy projects.
  • Conduct feasibility and options analyses, engineering assessments, and provide technical advisory from project initiation to recommendations.
  • Evaluate project needs, technologies, operational limits, and interface with current infrastructure.
  • Perform or oversee technical analyses such as power system studies, grid integration, energy modeling, and economic evaluations.
  • Support planning, design, and delivery of network and substation projects, including option analysis, design coordination, specifications, procurement, and construction stages.
  • Review design documents, calculations, specifications, and technical data to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
  • Lead due diligence and Owner's Engineer assessments by identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary contributions and communicate confidently with clients, utilities, developers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project scopes adhering to schedules, budgets, quality, governance, and safety standards, possibly serving as project manager.
  • Prepare and scrutinize technical deliverables, support proposals, and contribute to client and business development efforts.
  • Mentor junior team members via reviews, coaching, and sharing expertise.
  • Maintain industry connections with peers, OEMs, contractors, and clients.
  • Contribute to enhancing technical methods, tools, and delivery standards continuously.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical, Energy, Power Engineering, or a similar field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • At least eight years of relevant experience in consulting, utilities, project development, engineering, EPC, Owner’s Engineer roles, or technical advisory capacities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas like electricity networks, substations, renewables, energy storage, grid connection, system integration, energy modeling, strategy, due diligence, or project management.
  • Skilled at interpreting complex technical materials to extract key issues and offering clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Well-versed in international standards and engineering best practices; familiarity with Middle Eastern utilities and regulations is a plus.
  • Experience with engineering and analysis software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS®E, PSCAD, PLEXOS, Python, or similar tools aligned with technical focus.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and client communication skills for simplifying complex concepts and strengthening proposals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and clients and influence positive outcomes.
  • Proven track record of technical excellence and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and projects effectively.
  • Chartered Engineer accreditation or similar professional recognition is advantageous.
  • Proficient in English; occasional travel within the region or internationally may be necessary.
