Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Integration (Cork, Ireland)

Role Overview

The Products and Integration team is searching for experienced Software Engineers to advance current and future chipset technologies. In this role, you will work in a collaborative, fast-paced setting, engaging with diverse teams to gather architecture requirements, integrate drivers and peripheral software, troubleshoot system challenges, and develop solutions involving cutting-edge platforms. The primary focus includes integration, debugging, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate deeply with cross-functional software teams to validate and resolve software stability issues and implement features.
• Design and develop scalable build system software and tools for generating multiple image configurations.
• Work alongside hardware and systems engineering teams to ensure compliance with power and performance key performance indicators.
• Partner with program management and product leadership to create software product roadmaps and delivery timelines aimed at accelerating market readiness.
• Execute image and system-level sanity testing to verify software integrity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in integration, software version control, and testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of real-time operating systems principles.
• Proficiency in programming languages including C, C++, and assembly language.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Perl and Python.
• Strong analytical thinking paired with advanced debugging capabilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Expertise

• Hands-on experience utilizing JTAG for on-chip debugging.
• Familiarity with build automation tools like SCons and CMake.
• Expertise in software source control systems, including Perforce, Git/Gerrit, and GitHub.
• Background in embedded software development and device driver implementation.
• Experience working with Zephyr Open-Source RTOS.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in embedded software development or integration.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years software engineering or relevant experience.
• Or Master’s degree in related disciplines with at least 1 year of software engineering experience.
• Or PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• At least 2 years of academic or professional experience programming in languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
