Senior Data Scientist

About the Role

This senior data scientist position at HP involves driving innovation and creativity by applying advanced data mining and modeling techniques to solve complex business challenges aligned with future strategies. The role is responsible for establishing standardized processes and SOPs to improve productivity and facilitate cross-team learning across the data model development lifecycle. Continuous enhancement of model accuracy and reliability is a key focus.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead teams of data science professionals across the organization on complex projects using modern tools and programming languages to mine data effectively.
• Develop models that reveal patterns and generate predictions to deliver business value and foster innovation.
• Build and maintain relationships with business partners to promote data-driven innovation and provide domain expertise in cross-functional initiatives.
• Create impactful visualizations that clearly communicate business insights and innovation potential.
• Collaborate with business leaders, engineers, product managers, and data analysts to identify problems and develop data-driven solutions.
• Prepare and present research papers, presentations, and invention disclosures for peer review and for industry data science forums and conferences.
• Ensure regular and effective communication of insights, oversee design and modeling compliance with data standards.
• Drive communication and implementation of data insights and innovations throughout the business.
• Use domain expertise, business insight, and leadership in data systems to influence executive-level decisions and industry standards.
• Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to less experienced team members.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Typically requires over 10 years of professional experience in data analytics, machine learning, statistical modeling, or a closely related field.

Preferred Certifications

• Certifications in programming languages such as SQL, Python, or equivalents are preferred.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Expertise in algorithms, artificial intelligence, deep learning, and machine learning.
• Experience with big data tools including Apache Spark and Amazon Web Services.
• Strong skills in data analysis, data mining, statistical modeling, predictive modeling, and natural language processing.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
• Ability in data visualization using tools such as Tableau.
