Position Overview

The Senior Data Engineer within the Product Data Group is responsible for architecting and constructing data models and pipelines that support various product data types such as telemetry, logs, and alerts. Key duties include the design, implementation, and optimization of data infrastructure while ensuring security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the design and delivery of data models and pipelines across multiple applications, aligning with data architecture, access control, and security policies in the Product organization.
• Lead the establishment and enforcement of data management protocols, including schema evolution, versioning, backfilling, and retry mechanisms.
• Develop and standardize best practices for pipeline testing, monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks; collaborate with the Data Platform Architect to promote effective root cause analysis and remediation tactics.
• Implement and oversee SLAs and data lifecycle policies; create standards to ensure data quality, observability, and production alerting systems.
• Contribute to comprehensive technical and architectural documentation and advise on metadata and data cataloguing requirements alongside data custodians.
• Participate actively in design reviews that elevate engineering quality while sharing knowledge and best practices; work cross-functionally to synchronize event design, source systems, and data agreements.

Qualifications and Skills

• Exhibit kindness and collaborative spirit.
• Possess 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in data engineering and architectural roles, with a preference for product data domains such as telemetry and logs.
• Demonstrated expertise in data architecture, modeling, database and pipeline performance tuning, and standardizing data implementations.
• Proficient in designing data flows, pipelines, and systems for data quality and observability, including monitoring and alerting frameworks.
• Experienced in data cataloguing, metadata management, lineage tracking, and working effectively with data stewards.
• Strong background incorporating DevOps principles including CI/CD and testing within software engineering contexts.
• Skillful in operating within data governance frameworks and balancing stakeholder data priorities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Familiarity with dbt, Databricks (including Unity Catalog), Git, and AWS environments.
• Understanding of machine learning data demands.
