Job description

Role Summary

This senior courier position requires operating company vehicles to efficiently deliver and pick up packages. The role involves covering at least 15 different routes without a permanent assignment, acting as a floater to provide relief across multiple areas. In addition to delivery duties, the incumbent will mentor hourly employees by exemplifying best practice behaviors such as effective communication, leadership, and conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate company vehicles to manage pickups and deliveries efficiently over multiple routes.
  • Provide flexible coverage by floating across a minimum of 15 routes rather than being tied to a single permanent route.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to hourly team members, demonstrating strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Promote sales by identifying and generating opportunities for incremental revenue growth.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Minimum of six months of courier experience is required to effectively fulfill job duties.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; must have two or fewer violations or accidents in the previous 24 months.
  • Successful completion and maintenance of all required training, including basic and recurring Dangerous Goods (DG) certification, with accreditation renewed annually.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain FedEx DG Specialist certification.
  • Strong knowledge of company products, services, and general operational procedures.
  • Capability to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs and maneuver items up to 150 lbs using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Some familiarity with Federal Express operations and Canadian Customs regulations is advantageous.
  • Bilingual skills (French and English) are mandatory for candidates based in Quebec.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization abilities.

Additional Details

  • Shift schedule includes Monday through Thursday and Saturday.
  • This position does not have fixed routes; coverage is provided for open routes when regular couriers are unavailable.
  • Requirements for DG specialist certification depend on the station’s size and location and may be overridden by senior management.
  • All incumbents must pass mandatory tests and maintain certifications as required.
  • Familiarity with PC Windows environment required for operational duties.
