Job description
Position Overview
The Senior Biomedical Engineer will ensure the optimal and safe functioning of biomedical devices by performing maintenance, repairs, and user training. This role adheres strictly to national and international healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain proper working conditions of medical equipment within assigned specialties at the healthcare facility and promptly report critical issues to the Biomedical Engineering Unit Manager.
- Operate independently and collaboratively with the Biomedical Engineering team to minimize equipment downtime within the specialty domain.
- Recommend necessary tools, testing devices, and service materials to the Biomedical Engineering Manager/Director for use in equipment maintenance.
- Perform or oversee corrective repairs on medical devices, ensuring completion is validated by end-user signed service reports and documented system updates.
- Conduct or supervise scheduled preventive maintenance (PPM) as per manufacturer guidelines, with completion confirmed via signed reports and system entries.
- Manage installation and dismantling of medical equipment, ensuring proper authorization and documentation for acceptance or disposal processes.
- Assign daily maintenance requests to Biomedical Technicians and monitor progress on each job order.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Department to assess spare part offers for medical equipment.
- Ensure conformity of new and existing devices to environmental and technical specifications onsite.
- Provide monthly updates to the Biomedical Engineering Manager/Director on PPM plan execution.
- Respond rapidly to urgent incidents, coordinating immediate interventions with management.
- Order and organize necessary equipment, spare parts, and product catalogs within specialty areas.
- Oversee training requirements for healthcare facility users and deliver necessary instruction.
- Supervise ongoing activities within the Biomedical Workshop continuously.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five years' experience servicing and maintaining medical equipment within the relevant specialty, either in hospitals or medical equipment service firms.
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering.
- Proficient in spoken and written English; Arabic language skills preferred.
- Possession of a valid Biomedical Engineer license issued by the appropriate regulatory authority.
