About Generate KiwiSaver Scheme
Generate KiwiSaver Scheme is a proudly New Zealand owned and operated KiwiSaver and wealth manager committed to providing simple, clear financial advice and socially responsible investment options that promote long-term profitability. Our mission centers on educating, empowering, and advising New Zealanders to help them achieve improved retirement financial outcomes. We are a purpose-driven business that values making a meaningful difference and fosters a culture of idea sharing and empowerment, encouraging our team to lead initiatives that benefit our business, community, and members.
Position Overview
The Senior Automation Engineer role involves spearheading the creation of an automation-first approach for the Onviser platform. As this is a new platform, there is no legacy automation framework to maintain, meaning you will select the tools, design the automation framework, establish quality standards, and develop automated testing pipelines. This position suits someone energized by building new systems rather than maintaining existing ones, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and adept at handling multiple responsibilities within a lean team.
While full automation is the goal, the initial focus will involve performing manual and exploratory testing on both mobile and web platforms, using each release cycle to identify further automation opportunities. A solid foundation in manual testing is vital to understand the distinctions between automated checks suitable for machines and tests requiring human judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish the automation capability from scratch by designing frameworks, choosing appropriate tools, and setting standards to reinforce quality across the Onviser platform.
- Create and sustain automated test suites covering both web and mobile applications, integrating these into CI/CD pipelines from the outset.
- Serve as a quality engineering advocate, blending automated testing with manual and exploratory testing to enhance the overall customer experience.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to enhance testability, mitigate risks, and embed quality into every software release.
- Lead ongoing improvements by utilizing data analysis, modern automation tools, and industry best practices to refine automation strategies and quality processes.
- Contribute to shaping the future technical direction and development practices of the platform within a dynamic and high-performance team.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in quality assurance, software testing, or automation engineering within product development teams.
- Demonstrated ability to architect and implement automation testing frameworks from the ground up.
- Proficient with modern automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Postman.
- Competent in manual and exploratory testing with strong skills in risk evaluation and test strategy formulation.
- Experience integrating automated tests within CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, ideally Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Strong analytical abilities paired with effective problem-solving and experimental skills.
- Effective collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Engineering to promote quality at every stage.
- ISTQB certification or an equivalent qualification is a beneficial asset.
Why Join Us?
- We value a work culture that balances high standards with a supportive and enjoyable environment where employees can thrive.
- A hybrid work model designed to harmonize professional and personal life.
- Competitive salary complemented by a biannual bonus, enhanced KiwiSaver contributions, comprehensive corporate benefits, and more.
- Health and wellbeing perks including health insurance, Employee Assistance Programs, and discounted gym memberships.
- Access to continuous professional development and training.
- An active Health & Wellbeing Committee organizing a robust schedule of events focusing on social connection, community involvement, and mental health.
- Office located comfortably in the central Auckland CBD area.
