Overview

Convergint seeks a dedicated full-time Security Solutions Estimator to contribute within a dynamic and supportive culture. This position serves as a key liaison between junior estimating personnel and senior project design and estimation experts by producing precise cost analyses for substantial RFPs, new construction projects, and intricate scopes associated with programmatic clientele. The role demands technical proficiency, project accountability, and a cooperative approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates for large proposals, greenfield initiatives, and complex scopes encompassing global accounts and sectors like data centers, healthcare, finance, utilities, and education.
  • Serve as a bridge between entry-level and senior estimators, managing medium to large-scale projects for programmatic customers.
  • Review project requirements, specifications, and technical documents to identify scope, risks, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management to align estimates with true costs, resources, and scheduling.
  • Interpret blueprints, evaluate project scope and costs to influence pricing and feasibility significantly.
  • Participate in site inspections, pre-bid meetings, and technical discussions to thoroughly assess unique project demands.
  • Prepare precise bills of materials enabling Account Executives to obtain vendor pricing for materials, labor, and services aligned with project specifications.
  • Detect scope gaps, potential risks, and opportunities for value engineering to introduce innovative solutions.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to confirm estimate feasibility and accuracy.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable regulations and compliance standards.
  • Keep current on security technologies, industry norms, and pricing trends.
  • Produce and present well-founded proposals to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Perform additional related tasks as necessary.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Possess 3-5 years of estimating, project management, or systems design experience within electronic physical security systems (including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection).
  • Demonstrated experience handling large-scale RFPs, greenfield projects, and client programmatic solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of sector-specific requirements, including healthcare, data centers, government, education, and financial institutions.
  • Adept at reading construction drawings, specifications, and technical scopes.
  • Proficient in estimation software, Excel, and project collaboration tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of material costs, labor expenses, and subcontractor coordination for physical security projects.
  • Capable of recognizing project risks, proposing value engineering improvements, and achieving profitability targets.
  • Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for productive collaboration with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
  • Proactive with a growth mindset focused on continuous improvement and delivering outcomes.
  • Field experience is advantageous.
  • Bilingualism considered an asset.
  • Ability to obtain security clearances is preferred.
