Security Estimator

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Security Solutions Estimator to join our team full-time in Brantford, Ontario. This role requires preparing precise cost evaluations for extensive RFPs, greenfield initiatives, and complex project scopes, especially serving programmatic customers. The successful candidate will serve as a key link between junior estimators and senior design and estimating professionals, ensuring accurate estimates for large-scale security projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for large projects across industries such as healthcare, data centers, financial institutions, utilities, and education.
• Manage medium to large-scale opportunities independently, liaising between entry-level and senior estimating teams.
• Interpret and analyze project specifications, technical documents, and requirements to assess scope and potential risks.
• Work collaboratively with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management to validate cost, resource allocation, and timelines.
• Examine project blueprints and scopes in detail to influence pricing and project viability.
• Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and technical consultations to assess unique project needs.
• Prepare detailed bills of materials to enable sourcing of pricing for materials, labor, and services from vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for value engineering to enhance project outcomes.
• Coordinate with installation teams to confirm estimate feasibility and accuracy.
• Stay informed on regulations, compliance standards, security technologies, industry trends, and product pricing.
• Create and present accurate proposals to internal stakeholders and clients.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or system design specifically for electronic physical security systems (including access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems).
• Demonstrated experience working with large-scale RFPs, greenfield projects, and programmatic customers.
• Strong familiarity with vertical market demands, such as healthcare, data centers, government, education, and financial sectors.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documentation such as drawings, technical scopes, and specifications.
• Proficient with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and collaboration tools for project management.
• Knowledgeable about material costs, labor, and subcontractor coordination in physical security projects.
• Capable of identifying project risks, proposing value engineering strategies, and ensuring projects meet profitability targets.
• Exceptional organizational skills for managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
• A proactive attitude focused on continual improvement and goal achievement.

Additional Qualifications

• Field experience is considered a valuable asset.
• Bilingual language skills are a plus.
• Ability to obtain government reliability and security clearances is advantageous.
