Security Solutions Estimator

About the Role

Convergint is seeking a dedicated and motivated Security Solutions Estimator to join our team full-time in Windsor, Ontario. This position plays a vital role in bridging the gap between junior estimators and senior estimating and design professionals. You will be responsible for creating precise cost estimates for significant RFPs, greenfield projects, and complex scopes, focusing on programmatic customers across various verticals including data centers, healthcare, finance, utilities, and education.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile detailed, accurate cost estimates for large-scale and complex security projects.
• Serve as a liaison between junior estimators and senior team members, managing medium to large opportunities involving programmatic clientele.
• Examine project plans, specifications, and technical documentation to determine scope, identify risks, and define deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management departments to ensure estimates reflect realistic costs, resources, and timelines.
• Interpret blueprints and documentation to oversee project feasibility and pricing decisions.
• Engage in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and technical consultations to fully understand project nuances.
• Generate accurate bills of materials to support procurement activities for materials, labor, and services specific to the project needs.
• Identify potential scope discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for value engineering to enhance project solutions.
• Coordinate with installation teams to validate estimate accuracy and practicality.
• Maintain awareness of industry regulations, compliance standards, and security technology trends.
• Prepare and deliver detailed proposals to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support estimating functions and company goals.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Three to five years of relevant experience in estimating, project management, or system design within electronic physical security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection).
• Proven experience handling large RFPs, greenfield projects, and programmatic customer engagements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of vertical market needs including healthcare, data centers, government, education, banking, and financial institutions.
• Capabilities in reviewing and analyzing construction documents, technical specifications, and project scopes.
• Proficiency in using estimating tools, Microsoft Excel, and collaboration software.
• Familiarity with costs involving materials, labor, and subcontractor coordination specific to physical security installations.
• Skill in identifying project risks, suggesting value engineering improvements, and meeting profitability targets.
• Excellent organizational abilities enabling management of multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively partner with teams, clients, and vendors.
• A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering successful outcomes.
