School Custodial Cleaner

Job Overview

ABM Industries is seeking a dependable and experienced School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties within K-12 schools, colleges, or university campuses. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned areas such as classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, clear debris, clean spills, and mop floors in specified locations.
• Frequently inspect and empty trash bins across designated zones.
• Handle chemical cleaners and power cleaning equipment cautiously to avoid damage to floors and fixtures.
• Report to supervisors about any minor or major repair needs or upgrades to building systems.
• Foster effective communication and cooperation with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and management.
• Gather, separate, and dispose of recyclables in proper containers.
• Clean and dust furniture including desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, window sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hardwood and stainless steel surfaces to maintain appearance.
• Sanitize tabletops, chairs, and equipment in designated food preparation and dining areas.
• Relocate cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment manually or using hand trucks as required for cleaning.
• Clean interior glass components such as partition glass, windows, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning agents and tools.
• Undertake seasonal tasks such as sweeping walkways, raking leaves, lawn trimming, and snow removal as needed.
• Keep restrooms sanitary by cleaning and polishing where necessary.
• Adhere to all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards set by the company, clients, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience is not mandatory as on-the-job training is provided.
• No formal education such as a high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.
• Preferred candidates may have prior customer service experience and at least one year of similar cleaning work.
