SAS Cloud Technical Architect

About the Role

As a leader in data analytics and artificial intelligence, SAS enables customers worldwide to convert data into actionable insights. The SAS Cloud and Information Services team is expanding rapidly and seeks a Technical Architect to lead the management and design of data systems within SAS Cloud. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the future and operations of SAS Cloud services, working across a diverse customer base.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate technical requirements throughout sales cycles to develop detailed implementation proposals jointly with delivery leads.
• Define project scope, resource needs, effort estimates, and gather technical requirements.
• Deliver tailored software demonstrations highlighting SAS technology advantages and customer benefits.
• Establish trusted advisor relationships with account teams and clients, providing expert guidance on software capabilities and setting clear expectations.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in SAS technologies and methodologies to ensure project success.
• Support sales processes and implementation activities with technical expertise across solution domains.
• Create advanced prototypes of SAS foundational technologies when necessary.
• Install and configure SAS software and auxiliary products for demonstrations and knowledge sharing.
• Perform pre-sales implementations and provide onsite support to validate functionality.
• Contribute to RFI/RFP responses with comprehensive and persuasive technical content.
• Collaborate with sales teams to guide technical and functional aspects of sales opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to transform tactical engagements into strategic partnerships using technical support resources.
• Adhere to and promote industry best practices and organizational security policies to secure software development.
• Support user group events, trade shows, and knowledge exchange initiatives with systems engineers.
• Take part in solution design and produce high-quality customer documentation.
• Coordinate with Technical Support to address architecture-specific client issues.

Qualifications and Skills

• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years experience in system engineering, project management, applications development, technical architecture, or technical customer support.
• Proficient in facilitating communication and possessing strong interpersonal skills.
• Deep understanding of SAS foundational technologies, architectural principles, and industry best practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cloud architecture concepts and best practices.
• Familiarity with sales processes and strategic cycles.
• Strong problem-solving skills, organizational abilities, and decision-making capability.
• Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.

Preferred Knowledge and Additional Competencies

• Technical familiarity with programming languages, operating systems, utilities, and diagnostic tools relevant to the role.
• Ability to visualize and architect solutions for complex system challenges.
• Certifications in Azure, AWS, and SAS technologies are advantageous.
