Role Overview

Primary Duties

• Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits.
• Continuously monitor operational sites to verify adherence to Amazon's safety procedures.
• Prepare and maintain detailed safety metrics reports for colleagues.
• Collaborate with Operations and other departments to guide and improve safety processes.
• Assist in implementing new safety protocols and measures.

Typical Workday

As a site-based Safety Technician, your presence on-site allows you to observe real-time activities and be accessible for employee inquiries during shifts. Your key responsibility is to proactively identify potential hazards by understanding site operations and equipment usage, enabling you to recommend and help enforce safer procedures. You'll support Operations teams with ad-hoc safety tasks, collect crucial safety data, share insights across teams, and ensure safety remains a top priority throughout the organization.

About the Workplace Health and Safety Team

The WHS team plays a vital role in maintaining the mental and physical wellbeing of Amazon's workforce. Collaborating with managers, associates, and regulatory bodies, this team ensures compliance with both company policies and legal requirements, fostering a safe working environment. The team offers diverse roles from Safety Technicians to Programme Managers, all contributing to a comprehensive safety strategy network-wide.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of NEBOSH National General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 certification.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Experience with data analysis to create and interpret safety metrics.
• Awareness and understanding of UK Health and Safety laws and regulations.

Desirable Qualifications

• Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodology experience.
• Background in planning or managing environmental sustainability initiatives.
• Ability to operate effectively independently and within team environments.
