Safety Engineer

Job Objective

Manage and supervise the issuance and execution of work permits ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, enabling safe operational and maintenance activities across power generation sites.

Responsibilities

• Assess and approve work permits before any operational activity starts.
• Guarantee the implementation of requisite safety measures and control protocols.
• Liaise and coordinate efforts among operations team, maintenance staff, and contractors.
• Oversee adherence to permit conditions and compliance with HSE regulations during work.
• Continuously verify that permits remain valid throughout ongoing tasks.
• Manage the suspension and closing of permits once work is finalized.
• Spot unsafe practices or breaches in permits and initiate necessary corrective steps.
• Maintain compliance with established power plant safety guidelines and site-specific requirements.

Qualifications

• Possess a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Have two to three years of experience handling safety and work permit responsibilities, preferably in power generation or power plant environments.
• Hold valid certifications including CSCC00 (General Introductory Training in Occupational Health and Safety), CSCC06 (Power Plant Safety for Generation Contractors), and CSCC07 (Generation Work Permit Holder).
• Demonstrated understanding of Permit to Work (PTW) systems and HSE policies.
• Exhibit strong skills in coordination, communication, and monitoring progress effectively.
