The role ensures customers enjoy a safe and welcoming travel experience.

You will work on a 24/7 shift rotation over a four-week cycle, performing tasks such as cleaning the interiors of train carriages—including emptying restrooms—cleaning locomotive windscreens, and eliminating external graffiti with pressure washers and chemical agents.

Key Duties

  • Carry out cleaning duties, including graffiti removal, according to directions and guidelines.
  • Carefully use cleaning products in compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets and instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors in person, via telephone, and over radio; maintain accurate records like logbooks, check sheets, and timecards.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by adhering to quality standards and established cleaning procedures.
  • Ensure all cleaning operations align with Queensland Rail’s Environmental Management System.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate productively within a team environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of cleaning methods, appropriate product application, and safety practices.
  • Understanding of quality improvement initiatives, workplace health and safety regulations, and environmental management principles.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of building effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and objectives.

Additional Information

  • This position offers a starting base salary of $66,000 annually, with additional weekend shift penalties and superannuation contributions up to 12.75%.
  • Employees receive free rail travel commuting to work and discounted off-duty travel.
  • Queensland Rail supports a robust safety culture, striving so everyone can work and return home safely.
  • Access to competitive employee benefits, an inclusive work environment, and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program focused on health and wellbeing.
  • Options for salary packaging and novated leasing are available.
  • Applicants may undergo pre-employment alcohol and drug testing, psychometric assessments, health checks, and background verification including criminal and credit checks.
  • Queensland Rail is dedicated to a barrier-free recruitment and workplace environment, welcoming applicants requiring accommodations to advise during the recruitment process.
