Job description
Overview
This role focuses on developing a robust robotic manipulation software platform that converts advanced bin-picking technologies into a scalable and maintainable product, ready for deployment across manufacturing plants globally. The successful candidate will lead efforts to internalize, standardize, and productize the company's robotics software.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and uphold the overarching architecture of the robotic manipulation software platform.
- Convert existing project-specific software modules into reusable and configurable product components.
- Set standards for software architecture, code guidelines, and establish development frameworks.
- Promote modularity and standardization of software components to support worldwide deployment.
- Design a scalable software infrastructure accommodating multiple factories, diverse parts, and robotic cells.
- Architect comprehensive robotic manipulation workflows encompassing vision processing, object segmentation, 6D pose estimation, grasp and motion planning, and robot actuation.
- Develop scalable MLOps frameworks and AI model deployment pipelines, including data, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring processes.
- Devise deployment methodologies tailored for global factory implementations.
- Document software architecture, establish standards and define best practices.
- Facilitate technology transfer to regional engineering teams and lead design and architecture reviews.
- Evaluate emerging technologies in robotics and AI; prepare technical documentation, reports, code documentation, and setup manuals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s or PhD degree in Robotics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Over 3 years of professional experience in software architecture or development within robotics software.
- Proven expertise in creating scalable software platforms rather than project-specific applications.
- Familiarity with industrial automation systems and industrial communication protocols like OPC UA and PROFINET.
- Proficient in control and communication implementations using C#, SQL, REST APIs, and MQTT.
- Capability to program industrial robotic manipulators using C/C++ and Python.
- Solid understanding of robotic bin-picking mechanisms and associated AI technologies such as pose estimation, synthetic data creation, reinforcement and imitation learning.
- Experience working with ROS (Robot Operating System) versions 1 or 2, Linux-based environments, ARM architectures, and related software tools.
- Holdings of patents, publications, certifications, or awards in robotics and automation are beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving aptitude with a systematic approach to troubleshooting and fault analysis.
