Job description
Overview
Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) serves as the main manufacturing testbed aimed at creating a transformative, software-defined factory for advanced autonomous and adaptable production of next-generation mobility solutions. As part of the Technology Innovation Group, the Software & Data Engineering Team designs intelligent systems encompassing IoT, MLOps, visualization, and simulation to revolutionize factory operations.
We are hiring an experienced Senior Software Engineer focused on Digital Twin and Simulation technologies. This role entails designing, building, deploying, and maintaining scalable software solutions that power digital twin applications in manufacturing, logistics, and industrial automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create scalable digital twin and simulation applications leveraging NVIDIA Omniverse and Kit-based frameworks.
- Develop reusable Omniverse extensions, tools, services, and APIs to support diverse digital twin use cases.
- Contribute to platform architecture, establishing technical standards to ensure maintainable and scalable solutions.
- Lead technical design reviews and shape architecture decisions.
- Build and support OpenUSD-based asset pipelines for seamless interoperability between CAD and simulation tools.
- Manage USD assets, including compositions, layers, and variants for extensive digital twin environments.
- Collaborate with 3D artists and asset teams to ensure technical accuracy and performance optimization.
- Develop data ingestion and synchronization workflows connecting digital twins with engineering and operational systems.
- Work alongside automation engineering, production, and logistics teams to digitize and validate factory processes.
- Support simulation applications for virtual commissioning, production planning, logistics analysis, process validation, and operational enhancement.
- Define modeling approaches, assumptions, and validation techniques for digital twin simulations.
- Integrate simulation outcomes into business and engineering decision frameworks.
- Design and maintain deployment architectures for on-premises digital twin platforms using NVIDIA Omniverse and related technologies.
- Develop integrations with enterprise software, IIoT platforms, MES, databases, and external APIs.
- Coordinate with IT on infrastructure planning, security, deployment, and operational excellence.
- Implement containerized deployment approaches and ensure platform scalability.
- Focus on performance tuning, monitoring, reliability, and maintainability of production systems.
- Collaborate across regions to exchange best practices and establish global standards.
- Engage with diverse corporate teams to define technical requirements and prepare technical presentations and documentation.
- Create technical documentation, coding guidelines, architecture standards, and team playbooks.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance through design discussions, code reviews, and collaboration.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies related to digital twins, OpenUSD, industrial software, simulation, and artificial intelligence.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD).
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in software development within domains such as simulation platforms, digital twins, robotics, or industrial software systems; or a PhD with relevant research or practical experience.
- Proficient programming skills in Python with a track record of producing maintainable production-grade software.
- Experience building applications, tools, APIs, and integrations in complex software ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, OpenUSD, or analogous 3D simulation platforms.
- Expertise integrating software systems with databases, enterprise apps, web services, and industrial platforms.
- Background in manufacturing, logistics, industrial engineering, or factory operations environments.
- Strong knowledge of OpenUSD, including USD compositions, variants, and large-scale asset management.
- Experience deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes-based platforms.
- Familiarity with GPU-enabled infrastructure to support simulation, visualization, or AI workloads.
- Understanding of cloud-native and hybrid deployment methodologies.
- Exposure to robotics frameworks such as ROS or ROS2 and industrial automation systems.
- Experience incorporating AI/ML approaches into industrial software workflows, including synthetic data generation, surrogate and reduced-order modeling, and reinforcement learning.
- Knowledge of NVIDIA Cloud Functions (NVCF) or enterprise Omniverse deployment best practices.
- Hands-on familiarity with simulation software like Siemens Plant Simulation, AnyLogic, FlexSim, Simio, or comparable platforms.
- Competence in physics-based modeling including finite element analysis (FEA/FEM), computational mechanics, multibody dynamics, material modeling, and deformable body simulations.
- Industry experience in automotive, manufacturing, logistics, or related industrial engineering sectors.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to work effectively within cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent skills in producing technical documentation.
