Risk Investigator

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Risk Investigator to join our team in Port Elizabeth. This role is crucial for protecting our company’s assets, employees, and customers by managing comprehensive investigations including criminal cases, accidents, and liability matters. The successful applicant will combine strong investigative skills such as evidence collection, preparing trial-ready case files, and developing networks of informants, together with expertise in risk reduction and security inspections covering CCTV, access controls, and cash handling audits.

As a vital intermediary between the company, clients, and the South African Police Service (SAPS), you will drive legal proceedings against offenders and assist in asset recovery, while maintaining strict compliance with corporate governance standards. The position also requires significant involvement in health and safety initiatives—participating in safety committees, reporting incidents, and ensuring adherence to national safety regulations in the area.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct prompt and accurate investigations into criminal activities, internal fraud, and workplace accidents to prepare thorough prosecution, disciplinary, or liability case dossiers.
• Build and maintain regional networks of informants and collaborate closely with SAPS to facilitate criminal prosecutions and the recovery of lost assets or firearms.
• Perform regular security, cash, and surveillance audits to detect and assess risks, review past risk management practices, and oversee corrective action implementations.
• Engage actively in the planning and oversight of yearly safety programs, participate in safety forums, and enforce workplace health and safety policies.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Completed Grade 12 education.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• PSIRA Grade B registration.
• CIT Certification.
• At least 5 years of experience in investigative roles.
• SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate.
• Statement of Results from Professional Firearms Trainers Council (PFTC) or from the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) confirming Firearm Competency for business purposes.
