Retail Manager - Firearms Department

Overview

The Retail Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and developing personnel within one or more specialized merchandise sections at a Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s retail store. This role entails leading superior customer service and ensuring operational excellence through actively engaging the sales team in all aspects of department management, including product presentation, inventory oversight, pricing strategies, sales enhancement, recruitment, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion outstanding customer service to guarantee an enjoyable and efficient shopping experience for customers.
• Achieve or surpass financial objectives and sales targets.
• Implement and manage sales event initiatives effectively.
• Serve as Manager on Duty, responsible for store opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure adherence to planograms and merchandise display standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards consistently within the department.
• Recruit service-focused staff; handle interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance appraisals, and motivation to foster a collaborative and customer-centric team.
• Address and resolve concerns from both customers and team members promptly.
• Operate management duties in line with company policies and legal requirements.
• Perform any additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in retail management with a focus on sales and merchandising.
• Competence in performing calculations like discounts and percentages with accuracy.
• Ability to interpret and analyze sales reports and relevant business data effectively.
• Skill in identifying issues, collecting facts, and drawing sound conclusions.
• Understanding of diverse financial, compliance, safety, and technical information related to retail operations.
• Proficient in report writing and professional business communication.
• Effective presentation and communication skills for interacting with individuals and groups.
• Experience conducting meetings and presentations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain productive work relationships.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn retail-related office technologies and software.
• Possession of a valid Possession and Acquisition License (P.A.L.) is mandatory.
