Job description

About the Role

  • Be part of a nationwide commercial and procurement team tasked with enhancing value through strategic sourcing and category management throughout New Zealand.
  • Take a pivotal role in executing national commercial strategies within your assigned region and help shape the future direction of categories at the national scale.
  • Manage comprehensive commercial activities from planning and procurement to contract awarding, supplier relationship management, and monitoring ongoing performance.
  • Develop strong partnerships with regional suppliers and internal teams to foster innovation, improve results, and ensure adherence to contracts.
  • Support an organisation devoted to maximizing public benefit via smarter procurement, sustainable approaches, and customer-centric commercial solutions.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess substantial experience in procurement, commercial management, or category management, preferably in complex or infrastructure-focused sectors.
  • Demonstrate success in crafting and implementing category strategies that provide financial value and align with organisational goals.
  • Exhibit expertise in contract negotiation and supplier oversight, capable of handling complex commercial agreements.
  • Show strong commercial insight including financial analysis, market evaluation, and recognizing cost-saving opportunities through data-informed decisions.
  • Adopt a cooperative leadership approach with excellent stakeholder communication skills, sound knowledge of commercial governance, contractual duties, and regional supplier landscapes.
