Job description
Overview
The Recreation Manager supports the Director of Recreation in overseeing all pool and beach operations, including maintenance, daily upkeep, cleanliness, and managing cabana units. This leadership role involves enhancing guest and staff satisfaction while optimizing financial outcomes within the assigned areas. The position requires working alongside direct reports to implement departmental strategies effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage recreation staff, including covering employee duties as necessary.
- Maintain high standards of quality and customer satisfaction daily.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of relevant job functions, products, systems, and processes.
- Coordinate and schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as delegate tasks to team members.
- Provide personal assistance or support, including medical and emotional, to coworkers, guests, or patients as needed.
- Set clear goals and organize work priorities for effective accomplishment.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, such as those providing water sports and scuba services.
- Oversee inventory and procurement to ensure availability of supplies, tools, equipment, and uniforms.
- Lead children's programs, including activity coordination and resource acquisition.
- Organize group events like sand painting, bonfires, and team-building activities.
- Supervise pool and beach areas to ensure upkeep, maintenance, and smooth operation, including cabana management.
Guest Service and Team Leadership
- Act as a positive role model demonstrating exemplary service behavior.
- Deliver exceptional service that exceeds guest expectations to foster satisfaction and retention.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support to help individuals understand and meet guest needs.
Human Resources and Development
- Identify team members’ development needs and mentor or coach to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Participate in performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback.
- Coordinate and facilitate employee training activities within the department.
- Promote trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Clearly communicate performance expectations and encourage open dialogue.

The position is full-time and based in Doha, Qatar at Ras Abu Abboud Street. It is not a remote role. The job falls under the Golf, Fitness, & Entertainment category. Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED plus at least one year of experience in recreation, health club operations, or related field.
- Alternatively, a two-year degree in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or comparable field with no work experience required.
