Quantity Surveyor

Position Overview

Located in County Kerry, this permanent role offers a salary package reaching up to 8,000, complemented by additional benefits. The Quantity Surveyor will report to the Head of Quantity Surveying, playing a vital role in managing the commercial and financial aspects of construction projects. The primary focus is to maintain effective cost control, ensure commercial success, and maximize project profitability throughout all phases from initiation to completion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost plans, budgets, estimates, and tender submissions for diverse construction projects.
• Perform precise quantity measurements and cost projections to aid in meticulous project planning.
• Handle procurement processes, including subcontractor and supplier selection, tender assessment, contract negotiation, and adherence to company policies.
• Administer contracts by reviewing obligations, evaluating variations, and managing claims during project execution.
• Monitor project spending and financial performance, applying commercial controls to meet budgetary goals.
• Collaborate closely with project teams and designers to identify cost-saving measures and enhance value without sacrificing quality.
• Offer mentoring and support to junior commercial personnel to foster knowledge exchange and professional growth.
• Maintain robust relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve commercial issues promptly and professionally.
• Keep abreast of industry changes, market trends, and relevant legislative updates.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• At least 5 years of commercial experience in the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.
• Experience in building and fit-out projects, familiar with various contract formats.
• Strong commercial acumen and proven skills in managing client relationships.
• Knowledgeable in civil engineering and infrastructure-related projects.
• Proficient negotiation abilities to secure favorable commercial results.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team setting.
• Highly organized with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities and adapt to shifting demands.
