QS Engineer

Overview

The Quantity Surveying (QS) Engineer will manage all post-contractual quantity surveying responsibilities, including measurement, valuation, variations control, interim payments processing, claims management, and closing accounts. This role ensures that contractual and commercial procedures align with the company standards, project specifics, and contract terms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage post-contract operations adhering to contract conditions such as FIDIC and customized agreements.
• Prepare, review, and approve interim payment requests and invoices.
• Assess and negotiate change orders, variations, and claims presented by subcontractors and suppliers.
• Keep detailed and accurate records of all contractual correspondence, instructions, and changes.
• Assist in formulating substantiated claims for extension of time and additional costs.
• Handle preparation and finalization of subcontractor accounts including all variations and final settlements.
• Provide commercial and contractual support to the project team throughout project execution.
• Oversee project expenditures versus budgets and identify any financial risks or overruns early.
• Engage in contract reviews, attend progress meetings, and assist in negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.
• Compile final account submissions and support dispute resolution efforts as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Academic qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
• A professional background with 5 to 7 years’ experience in quantity surveying roles, especially within fit-out or building construction projects.
• Demonstrated skills in negotiation, critical analysis, and problem-solving.
• Effective verbal and written communication capabilities and a strong collaborator within teams.
• Proven ability to handle multiple concurrent projects under stringent schedules.
• Experience working for contractors is essential.
