About the Role
Join John Sisk & Son Ltd, a family-owned construction business with global reach, dedicated to delivering excellence and innovation in all projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will collaborate with the commercial and construction teams to drive successful project outcomes, foster strong stakeholder relationships, optimize commercial returns, and oversee risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and evaluate tenders, select and negotiate with subcontractors, and finalize subcontract agreements.
- Manage financial and commercial elements of subcontractors throughout to final account completion.
- Ensure accurate site record keeping and document control alongside recording site measurements.
- Support forecasting, target setting, and contract value reconciliations.
- Prepare valuations and manage variations with comprehensive documentation, securing agreement on changes as work advances.
- Update and submit projected final account figures promptly.
- Collaborate with site management to influence and challenge commercial decisions.
- Implement company commercial strategies while maintaining and protecting contractual entitlements.
- Perform contract value reviews independently and proactively identify and assess risks and opportunities.
- Gain knowledge of insurances and warranties relevant to project contracts.
- Participate in cash flow management to maintain financial health.
- Assist in tender processes as required.
- Supervise and review the work of Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
- Utilize clear communication skills and technology platforms effectively.
- Demonstrate full proficiency with the Standard Method of Measurement and strong commercial awareness.
- Apply time management, organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree-level education pursuing professional accreditation.
- Familiarity with JCT contracts and contract value reviews.
- Proficient letter and report writing and negotiation capabilities.
- Completion of a 2-day safety appreciation course covering contract and commercial awareness.
- CIOB membership or eligibility.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with large Design and Build contracts.
- Understanding of claims, dispute resolution, and contract law.
- Involvement in contracts exceeding €15 million without direct responsibility.
- Experience controlling traditional contracts and supervising junior surveyors, including approval of Standard Method of Measurement related work.

Bachelor's Degree
