Job description
Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is integral to the commercial management and contractual success of construction and infrastructure projects. This position involves managing project costs, overseeing contracts, evaluating commercial risks, and assisting project teams to ensure cost-effective delivery. The QS serves as a commercial advisor, ensuring adherence to contract conditions, financial precision, and thorough documentation from project start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and process Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), ensuring compliance with checklists and approval/payment procedures.
- Analyze Requests for Change (RFCs), Variation Orders (VOs), and other commercial amendments, providing clear financial assessments.
- Facilitate commercial negotiations with vendors to resolve matters related to IPCs, RFCs, VOs, Extensions of Time (EOTs), and Final Accounts.
- Maintain comprehensive commercial registers including contract expiry and payment tracking. Draft contract addenda or amendments as necessary. Review Requests for Quotations/Proposals (RFQs/RFPs) and initiate Sourcing Requests (SRs) and Purchase Requests (PRs) using SAP Ariba.
- Support internal audit procedures by gathering required documentation.
- Review submissions for insurance and bonds; provide insightful commentary.
- Participate in commercial meetings, coordinating among Engineers, Project Management Consultants (PMCs), Vendors, and internal teams.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably experienced in managing FIDIC contracts.
- Possess a degree in Quantity Surveying from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in contracts and commercial management post-degree.
