Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Auckland team. This position involves managing both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying activities. The role supports commercial and project teams with estimating, cost management, progress claims, variations, invoicing, and final account preparations. Occasional travel to other regions across New Zealand may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage your construction knowledge, Cake’s client base, and professional network to maintain a solid work pipeline.
- Collaborate with the administration team to deliver precise cost reporting and ensure robust financial results on projects.
- Assist Project Managers in preparing, gathering, and negotiating contract variations.
- Prepare and critically review final project accounts.
- Conduct detailed and accurate quantity take-offs using 2D or CAD construction drawings.
- Compile pricing for large commercial projects alongside the Commercial team.
- Work proactively with management to ensure material take-offs and quotes are completed on schedule.
- Support monthly progress claims and invoicing processes.
- Review received payments and provide commercial analysis support as needed.
Skills and Experience Required
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent significant experience.
- Previous senior experience in quantity surveying, estimating, or construction commercial roles.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant software systems.
- Hands-on experience with both pre-contract and post-contract commercial procedures.
- Familiarity with CAD or BIM tools is an advantage, though not mandatory.
