Job description
Overview
Dawn Meats is seeking a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join their team at Carrolls Cross, County Waterford. This full-time and permanent role involves collaborating with the Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) team to support production by routinely testing and measuring product quality. The goal is to ensure compliance with production, food safety, hygiene, and customer standards within the production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to an hourly schedule conducting thorough quality and due diligence inspections on products to confirm adherence to customer and legal standards.
- Perform daily pre-start checks in production zones.
- Document and communicate product quality data regularly to the quality team lead and production shift managers to facilitate quality improvements.
- Collect meat and environmental specimens for microbiological analysis.
- Contribute to quality control projects as directed by QC Team Leader, Quality Supervisor, or FSQ Managers.
- Make quality decisions based on collected data and analysis.
- Support production staff with product safety, quality, and traceability procedures.
- Participate in customer and third-party auditing processes.
- Promote and embed a culture of continuous audit readiness within the production area.
Candidate Requirements
- Proficient in English with solid communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and initiative-driven.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and adaptability.
- Flexibility to support QC team members and work a three-shift rotation (days, evenings, mid-shifts), including scheduled Saturdays.
- Possession of own transport is mandatory.

- Comply fully with health and safety guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety at workstations aligned with 6S principles.
- Report any incidents or accidents in production or packaging areas to the Production Manager promptly.
