Python Developer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and flexible Python Developer to join our experienced development team. In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling APIs, web services, and internal systems that support Global Player and public-facing radio websites, attracting over 30 million users monthly. This position emphasizes clean coding practices, teamwork, and ongoing learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web services powering Global Player and public radio platforms used by tens of millions of visitors each month.
• Build APIs and tools to support mobile applications and devices including Alexa and Google Home.
• Enhance internal editorial and content management systems that feed all external-facing products.

Candidate Qualifications

• Proactive developer willing to embrace and implement inventive solutions and broaden skills.
• Proven experience in commercial Python development.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and designing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Experience working collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Commitment to testing including unit tests, mocking frameworks, and test-driven development practices.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases and ORM tools.
• Awareness of the importance of Continuous Integration pipelines.

Additional Desirable Experience

• Familiarity with Python frameworks such as Django, Sanic, or Litestar.
• Knowledge of GraphQL.
• Experience with asynchronous programming using asyncio.
• Use of modern Python typing features and development tools.
• Expertise in scaling web applications to handle millions of users.
• Exposure to agile methodologies.
• Experience incorporating Docker into the development workflow.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Working with search technologies like ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, or similar Lucene-based search engines.
