Job Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer at Datavant, you will contribute significantly to advancing our healthcare data ecosystem by designing, building, and refining data-driven software solutions. This role involves end-to-end involvement in the software development lifecycle—architecture, design, implementation, and deployment—while collaborating closely across teams. Although familiarity with specific technologies is beneficial, the company values engineering fundamentals, curiosity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills above particular tool expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop impactful applications that enhance the healthcare data ecosystem.
• Mentor and support fellow engineers to build scalable, reliable, and effective solutions.
• Take full ownership of projects, influence technical decisions, and help steer the product roadmap.
• Create innovative data pipeline solutions that deliver valuable insights from healthcare data.
• Work with a variety of cutting-edge technologies including Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Spark, Snowflake, AWS, and Azure.
• Engage in technical knowledge sharing and contribute actively to the engineering community and initiatives such as the company engineering blog.

Candidate Profile and Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years delivering production-quality software, including full-stack application design and code reviews.
• Proficient in modern programming languages, notably Python and JavaScript/TypeScript with React, writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Strong expertise with SQL and relational databases, capable of efficient data modeling and querying.
• Experience in architecting and building scalable data pipelines and workflow systems for high-volume use cases.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams.
• Proven record of leading projects and delivering impactful, measurable outcomes.
• A background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Preferred Knowledge (Not Required)

• Cloud technologies and infrastructure: AWS, AWS Marketplace, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, GitHub Actions.
• Big data and analytics tools: Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Spark, Polars.
• Web frameworks and backend development: Flask and scalable API creation.
• Platform versatility including experience deploying software on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
• Relevant domain knowledge in data analytics, business intelligence, healthcare data privacy, and HIPAA compliance.
