Purchasing Agent

Position Overview

The Purchasing Agent role at Marriott International involves managing and calculating inventory figures for food items, overseeing orders and associated costs, and maintaining organized records of reports and invoices for accuracy and storage. The role requires posting invoices using computer software, conducting inventory audits to assess stock levels and needs, and completing requisition forms for inventory replenishment.

Key Responsibilities

• Notify supervisors about low stock and verify received inventory by tracking and completing inventory reports and logs.
• Reconcile shipping invoices with receiving reports to ensure accuracy in counts.
• Receive, unload, and process deliveries while rejecting damaged, incorrect, or unacceptable goods.
• Resolve vendor delivery issues and manage the returns process effectively.
• Adhere strictly to food safety and handling protocols across all relevant areas.
• Monitor periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) levels of food items to maintain optimal stock.
• Report workplace accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management; participate in safety training and certification programs.
• Follow all company policies on professional appearance, confidentiality, and asset protection.
• Communicate professionally in speaking and writing, utilize telephone etiquette, and develop positive team relationships.
• Comply with quality assurance standards and visually verify information in various formats.
• Inspect tools, equipment, or machines to identify defects as needed.
• Use computers or point of sale systems to record and find work-related information.
• Physically stand, sit, or walk during the work shift; perform manual tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling objects up to 50 pounds without assistance; navigate confined, elevated, uneven, or slippery areas; and safely carry out other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No licenses or certifications mandatory.
