Project Manager - Water Projects

About the Role

Join WSP's Water Asset Design team primarily focused on municipal and industrial water sectors. Our clients include major UK water companies and contractors, with projects ranging from routine network maintenance to large-scale water infrastructure works. The team is spread across the UK and supported by offshore staff in India.

We are hiring a Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary project teams through all phases from optioneering to delivery and client handover. Projects involve wastewater treatment, water supply, sewerage, and water network schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project proposals by defining scope, resources, schedule, and budget estimates.
• Own profit and loss responsibilities including revenue, margin, overheads, and cash flow management.
• Develop comprehensive project documentation like management plans, risk registers, cost forecasts, schedules, and stakeholder communication plans.
• Track and control project schedule, budgets, manhours, and expenditure.
• Ensure effective contract management including administration and change control.
• Supervise project teams, including assistant project managers, to ensure deliverables meet requirements.
• Maintain project records and communication with clients and team members.
• Proactively identify and resolve project risks and conflicts.
• Lead diverse technical and professional teams towards successful project outcomes.
• Promote continuous improvement and capture lessons learned throughout projects.

Candidate Profile

• Proven track record managing infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to regulated water industry or non-regulated water projects.
• Familiarity or accreditation in NEC contracts and ability to administer them technically and practically.
• Membership of professional bodies such as APM, PMI, or MICE is preferred.
• Competency in project management software tools.
• Strong skills in stakeholder management, risk management, scheduling, and commercial oversight.
