Project Engineer

About the Role

An opportunity to join a large Irish Semi-State organisation headquartered in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, dedicated to advancing Ireland's transition to a Climate-Neutral Economy by 2050. This climate-action enterprise focuses on renewable energy development, environmental restoration, waste and resource recovery, and sustainable land management.

The Project Engineer will support delivery of significant joint-venture renewable energy infrastructure projects across all phases, from development to operational readiness, working under the guidance of the Programme Manager and PMO. The position operates under a hybrid work model: three days remote and two days in the office.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and track project and programme activities throughout all phases, including maintaining schedules, action logs, and milestones in line with PMO frameworks.
• Define scopes and manage tasks for assigned work packages to ensure delivery of outputs on time and within budget.
• Prepare, review, and administer contracts, purchase orders, and procurement documents, while monitoring budgets and expenditures with oversight from the Programme Manager.
• Support tracking and documentation related to planning consents, permits, and regulatory approvals, ensuring compliance with environmental and statutory requirements.
• Maintain clear communications with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and advisors, including preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
• Identify, monitor, and report project risks in collaboration with the Programme Manager.
• Prepare operational handover documentation to facilitate project commissioning readiness.
• Ensure adherence to company health, safety, and welfare policies, and engage proactively in performance management processes.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a third-level degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Project Management or a related discipline; a Master's degree is advantageous.
• At least 3 years of project management experience, specifically in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated competence across a broad spectrum of project management skills with familiarity in Ireland's energy infrastructure sector.
• Excellent technical appraisal, report writing, and effective communication capabilities.
• Proficient user of MS Office and MS Project.
• Professional project management certification, such as PMP or equivalent, is desirable.
• A postgraduate qualification in project management is also a plus.

Location and Working Model

This role is based in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland operating with a blended hybrid work setup—three days remote and two days onsite in the office.
