Production Shift Supervisor – Plastic Extrusion

Overview

Excel Import Private Limited's plastic extrusion plant at Parmeshwari Polyplast, Poly Park, Sankrail, Howrah is seeking an experienced Production Shift Supervisor to lead the extrusion unit operations during assigned shifts. The role requires ensuring smooth production flow while meeting shift targets, controlling quality and safety, and managing manpower effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the extrusion unit for the entire duration of the assigned shift, taking full ownership of operations.
• Follow daily production schedules and deliver shift-wise output goals.
• Continuously monitor machinery, production quantities, material usage, and process parameters to maintain efficiency.
• Work proactively to reduce machine downtime, product rejection, material wastage, and rework.
• Identify and address machine/process issues promptly and collaborate with the maintenance team for breakdown repairs.
• Supervise operators and helpers, allocate tasks, track attendance, and evaluate work performance.
• Ensure product quality compliance by liaising with Quality Control teams on any deviations and corrective measures.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards including proper use of PPE and implementation of 5S/housekeeping guidelines.
• Keep detailed shift production records and ensure smooth handover to subsequent shifts.
• Report critical operational challenges promptly to the Production Manager or Plant Head.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Diploma in Plastics Technology, Mechanical, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Candidates certified by CIPET are highly desirable.
• Previous work experience in plastic extrusion or manufacturing units is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability in team leadership, troubleshooting technical problems, and making operational decisions.
• Must be willing and able to work on a mandatory rotational shift basis covering both day and night shifts.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Working days run Monday to Saturday.
• Shifts are 12 hours long, rotating between Day (8 AM to 8 PM) and Night (8 PM to 8 AM).
• The rotation of shifts is compulsory every week as per the production roster.
• Applicants must be fully comfortable with the weekly rotation and non-negotiable shift requirements.

Additional Information

This role provides a monthly compensation range from INR 20,000 to INR 30,000. The selected candidate will be based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India and be required onsite at the extrusion manufacturing facility.
