Procurement Manager

Overview

This opportunity is a payroll position under Randstad India, based out of Mangalage, Karjan Vadodara. The role reports directly to the Plant Head or Operations Head and is crucial for ensuring continuous manufacturing operations through effective procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage procurement of raw materials, engineering items, consumables, MRO spares, tools, and capital assets.
• Ensure constant availability of materials to meet production deadlines without interruptions.
• Build and maintain a dependable vendor network by evaluating and monitoring supplier performance.
• Conduct price negotiation, determine commercial terms, payment conditions, and delivery schedules to maximize cost efficiency.
• Manage RFQs, assess techno-commercial proposals, prepare comparative analyses, and issue purchase orders.
• Collaborate with departments such as Production, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, and Finance for synchronized procurement planning.
• Track supplier quality, delivery punctuality, costs, and service levels for continuous improvement.
• Source alternative suppliers for critical and imported components to minimize risks.
• Follow up diligently with vendors to ensure adherence to delivery commitments.
• Monitor inventory status, balancing procurement to prevent shortages or excess stock.
• Maintain all procurement documentation, contracts, and vendor data in compliance with company policies.
• Ensure procurement activities meet statutory and company SOP requirements.
• Lead and nurture the purchase team while promoting ongoing enhancements in procurement workflows.

Technical Competencies

• Vendor development and management expertise.
• Strategic sourcing and procurement acumen.
• Proficient in techno-commercial negotiations.
• Skillful in cost analysis and cost-saving techniques.
• Familiarity with purchase planning and material requirement planning (MRP).
• Inventory control and supply coordination capabilities.
• Experience with ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and Management Information Systems (MIS) reporting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain and contract management.

Preferred Background

• Experience within manufacturing sectors like bearing, automotive, precision engineering, forging, steel, or heavy engineering.
• Understanding of engineering blueprints, mechanical parts, and industrial manufacturing procedures.
• Knowledge of bearing-grade raw materials, heat treatment and grinding consumables, machine spares, hydraulic and pneumatic components, electrical items, and utilities is beneficial.
• Prior exposure to procurement in CNC machine spares, centreless grinding components, maintenance spares, and industrial equipment is an advantage.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a B.E. or B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, though those with a Mechanical Engineering Diploma and relevant experience will also be considered. Candidates should have between 3 to 15 years of procurement experience in manufacturing, including at least 3 to 5 years in a managerial capacity.
