Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Procurement Engineer with substantial expertise in sourcing heavy equipment on a rental basis, specifically for Aramco, Oil & Gas, and EPC projects in Saudi Arabia. This role demands a strong familiarity with the local rental market and extensive experience dealing with equipment suppliers and rental companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure a wide range of heavy machinery and plant equipment such as mobile and crawler cranes, excavators, wheel loaders, bulldozers, backhoe loaders, graders, rollers, forklifts, telehandlers, manlifts, generators, air compressors, welding machines, lighting towers, trailers, and heavy vehicles tailored to Oil & Gas construction projects.
- Handle procurement processes including solicitation of RFQs, preparing comparative purchase statements, issuing purchase orders, and negotiating rental agreements.
- Maintain and leverage a strong network of local heavy equipment rental companies and suppliers across Saudi Arabia.
- Collaborate with internal departments to meet urgent project procurement needs efficiently.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in procurement, preferably within Oil & Gas, EPC, construction, or industrial sectors.
- Mandatory experience within Saudi Arabia with good understanding of the local equipment rental market and rate structures.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities combined with commercial acumen.
- Familiarity with procurement systems such as ERP or SAP is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability in managing procurement requirements on project sites, particularly in Oil & Gas and EPC environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Hands-on experience procuring heavy and specialized construction equipment relevant to Oil & Gas projects.
- Well-versed in rental market dynamics, equipment specifications, and availability trends within Saudi Arabia.
