Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects primarily in the Oil & Gas sector in Doha, Qatar. The ideal candidate should bring extensive expertise in project planning, construction management, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive project planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery from mobilization through handover.
- Create project strategies, construction methodologies, schedules, and resource allocation plans to meet project goals.
- Ensure all project activities comply with approved plans, technical specs, contracts, and company policies.
- Track progress relative to baseline schedules, implementing corrective measures to mitigate delays.
- Manage multidisciplinary construction workstreams including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, HVAC, and Utilities.
- Supervise on-site teams, subcontractors, and supervisors to maintain efficient project progression.
- Resolve technical and operational challenges promptly to avoid disruptions.
- Maintain effective resource utilization to optimize productivity.
- Serve as the key liaison for clients, consultants, EPC contractors, and stakeholders; organize progress meetings and deliver project updates.
- Handle client inquiries, contractual matters, and coordinate internally for smooth project delivery.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and contractual documentation.
- Identify commercial risks and propose mitigation approaches.
- Plan and coordinate Manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors in alignment with schedules.
- Promote adherence to health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, including Permit-to-Work and Job Safety Analysis procedures.
- Oversee quality assurance activities per approved plans and specifications, managing non-conformances and mechanical completion tasks.
- Identify and mitigate risks concerning safety, schedule, quality, cost, and resources while escalating critical issues appropriately.
- Lead and motivate project teams, conduct performance reviews, and foster a positive, accountable work atmosphere.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly progress reports, maintain project documentation for audits and closure.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred; MMUP or UPDA accreditation is an added advantage.
- 12 to 20 years experience managing EPC projects in the Oil & Gas industry.
- At least 5 years in a Project Management role.
- Prior work experience within Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries is preferred.
