Processing Operator - Timaru

About the Position

Join McCain Foods at our Timaru facility as a Processing Operator, where you will directly manage a designated production area converting locally sourced potatoes into our renowned fries and chips. This role involves working within a dynamic 24/7 operation, requiring initiative and independence to uphold McCain's high international standards. No prior experience necessary as thorough training is provided.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee the smooth and efficient functioning of your assigned production zone, ensuring all standards and outcomes are met.
• Operate computerized equipment featuring touchscreen controls to maintain consistent production flow.
• Adhere to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule that includes 2 day shifts (7am-7pm), 2 night shifts (7pm-7am), followed by 4 days off.
• Remain actively engaged on your feet throughout long shifts involving substantial walking and standing.
• Complete required data entry and maintain records for quality assurance and administrative purposes.
• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties to comply with food safety regulations and uphold plant cleanliness.
• Detect and troubleshoot any product or machinery faults swiftly and effectively.
• Collaborate within a small team environment while exercising considerable independence during shifts and providing thorough handovers between shifts.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Adeptness at learning quickly with strong problem-solving skills to thrive in a fast-paced production setting.
• Basic computer literacy to operate touchscreen machinery and carry out routine data documentation.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take full responsibility for one’s work area while maintaining effective communication.
• Physically capable of handling prolonged standing and walking for 12-hour shifts.
• Positive mindset and eagerness to learn, supported by provided company training.
• Commitment to uphold health, safety, and food quality standards.
• Experience in food production or shift work is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand with a valid work visa; sponsorship is not available.
• Willing to complete medical examinations, drug screening, and provide references.
