Principal Rotating Engineer

Job Overview

Wood is inviting applications for the Principal Rotating Engineer position to support our expanding operations in Qatar. This long-term role involves leading project execution aligned with project plans, safety protocols, and quality standards while adhering to manpower, budget, and schedule objectives across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project execution and coordinate with client technical teams.
• Manage a multinational engineering team across London, India, and Qatar.
• Advise on selection and specification of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated driver and lubrication systems.
• Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, enquiry requisitions, and conduct evaluations of supplier bids.
• Oversee supplier design activities, ensure coordination with other disciplines, and review integration documentation like GA drawings and fabrication procedures.
• Provide expertise during design reviews, risk assessments, constructability evaluations, inspection, testing, construction, commissioning, and installation phases.
• Offer technical supervision and mentor junior mechanical engineers.
• Engage in site visits, surveys, and discussions with suppliers, clients, and contractors, and support site-based operations.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution is preferred.
• A minimum of 15 years' post-graduation experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven expertise with process and utility compressors, gas and steam turbines, pumps, and other rotating machinery.
• Experience across various project phases including greenfield and brownfield developments, onshore and offshore environments, from concept through EPC stages, with upstream focus.
• Knowledgeable in industry codes and standards, including API, ISO, ASME, and Shell DEPs.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to work independently.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Willing and able to participate in onshore and offshore activities, with relevant certifications or readiness to complete training such as BOSIET and H2S awareness.
