Project Lead Engineer - Primary

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Lead Engineer focusing on primary engineering tasks, especially within Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) projects. The role entails designing, planning, and executing engineering projects, encompassing preparation of designs, project controls, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and oversight of production, transportation, installation, testing, and commissioning activities. You will monitor progress against plans, resolve operational challenges, and secure necessary resources to ensure project success.

This senior role requires advanced knowledge acquired through education and extensive experience. As a Project Lead Engineer, you will often operate independently with minimal supervision, mentor junior colleagues, and tackle complex project challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical support for tendering and execution of customer projects.
• Prepare primary system drawings and Bill of Quantities for engineered GIS components.
• Act as technical lead for substation projects, managing and guiding all engineering activities.
• Draft specifications and review vendor offers, coordinating with Supply Chain for procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
• Lead meetings and discussions with customers, respond to onsite queries, and implement necessary solutions.
• Provide guidance to apprentices, junior engineers, technicians, and support teams on design inquiries.
• Review deliverables prior to client submission for quality assurance.
• Prepare and review technical documentation for procurement of current and voltage transformers.
• Participate actively in customer meetings and project review sessions.
• Contribute to reducing lead times and costs by developing solutions aligned with project technical needs.
• Ensure adherence to detailed project plans to guarantee timely delivery.
• Prioritize quality of deliverables while striving for optimized solutions benefiting both customers and the company.
• Collaborate with civil, steel, and application engineers from both Hitachi Energy and EPC partners.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8 to 10 years of substantial experience working with GIS technology.
• Fluency in both spoken and written English and Arabic languages is mandatory.
