Job Overview
This position involves collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and colleagues to deliver geological expertise for exploration activities and studies related to QatarEnergy's international non-operated assets. Responsibilities encompass screening new ventures, evaluating prospects and leads, overseeing drilling preparations and operations, and conducting integrated geoscience analyses to validate and support operator outputs. The role requires aligning with management for venture decision approvals.
Key Duties
- Oversee NOJV Asset Management, including support for Annual Business Plan submissions, Scorecards, and maintenance of Venture Risk registers.
- Provide timely updates to Senior Management regarding Technical and Commercial Management (TCM) and Operations and Commercial Management (OCM) asset recommendations.
- Influence operators’ strategies to align with QatarEnergy’s position, focusing on operational synergies and cost reduction where possible.
- Coordinate and represent the company in technical meetings, manage documentation to reflect QatarEnergy’s positions, encourage respectful dialogue and knowledge sharing.
- Support ongoing improvement initiatives within assigned assets and regions.
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience as a geological explorer within international oil companies specializing in oil and gas discovery.
- Proven expertise in prospect maturation, geological risk assessment, and resource volume estimation.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, projects, and joint ventures.
- Passion for collaborative exploration efforts, offering clear, actionable recommendations.
- Ability to motivate teams and mentor junior staff while collaborating across multiple disciplines.
- Hands-on experience with exploration and development in diverse sedimentary basins and tectonic environments globally, including pre- and post-salt basins and full-cycle basin and play exploration.
- Capability to operate effectively in non-operated roles, maintaining communication skills crucial for influencing JV partners and maintaining credibility.
- Extensive networking and experience in the Americas portfolio is preferred.
- Experience working with multiple international oil companies in non-operated ventures is necessary.
- Proficiency in software including Petrel Suite, GeoX, and ArcGIS is essential; familiarity with PaleoScan and Basin Modeling tools is advantageous.
Educational Qualification
A Master's degree in a core Geoscience discipline is required at minimum.
