About Analog Devices
Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a renowned global semiconductor company that integrates analog, digital, AI, and software technologies to drive innovations at the Intelligent Edge. Their solutions support combating climate change, fostering connectivity, and advancing industries such as automation, robotics, mobility, healthcare, energy, and data centers. The company generated revenues exceeding $11 billion in FY25.
The Team
The Intrinsic Reliability (iRel) Group at ADI is dedicated to ensuring the long-term robustness of products and processes by investigating the intrinsic reliability of semiconductor devices, circuits, and sensors. This multidisciplinary team includes experts in electronics, physics, and mathematics across locations in Limerick, Ireland (ADLK) and San Jose, California (ADSV). This role is based in the Limerick office.
Position Overview
The Principal Engineer will specialize in GaN intrinsic reliability, providing technical leadership and expertise in the characterization, modeling, and qualification of GaN and Wide Bandgap (WBG) semiconductor devices spanning 100V and 650V technologies. This critical role focuses on mitigating risks during GaN product development and supporting ADI’s expanding high-voltage power semiconductor portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and steer the reliability strategy for GaN technologies between 100V and 650V aligned with product roadmaps.
- Design and implement reliability qualification protocols such as HTGB, HTRB, switching, and transient stress tests.
- Lead physics-of-failure investigations, uncovering degradation mechanisms and guiding root cause remediation.
- Develop and validate lifetime and reliability models accounting for voltage, temperature, and switching dependencies of GaN devices.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to minimize risks early by ensuring comprehensive reliability evaluations.
- Provide authoritative technical guidance related to reliability risks, guardbands, and design strategies.
- Enhance intrinsic reliability testing infrastructure, including automated test equipment (ATE) and custom stress setups.
- Innovate and advance next-generation reliability methodologies for GaN and other WBG technologies including SiC and AlGaN.
Qualifications
- PhD or MSc degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Semiconductor Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in semiconductor reliability, with a significant focus on GaN or other Wide Bandgap technologies.
