Principal DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will play a vital role in shaping, advancing, and transforming cutting-edge IT and platform architectures. You will lead the technical direction of DevOps environments and ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems across complex project landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and continual enhancement of sophisticated DevOps and platform architectures.
• Manage architecture and operations of modern cloud and container platforms such as AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and Terraform.
• Make critical architectural choices and select suitable technologies and DevOps approaches.
• Guarantee code quality, system performance, security, and operational stability.
• Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production deployment.
• Supervise and mentor DevOps teams and engineers.
• Develop and advance CI/CD pipelines and automation strategies.
• Oversee modernization and transformation of existing system environments.
• Ensure compliance with standards, best practices, and regulatory policies.
• Participate actively in pre-sales efforts and architecture concept development.
• Foster knowledge sharing on new technologies, methodologies, and platforms.

Qualifications & Expertise

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or an equivalent qualification.
• Over 10 years of professional experience in DevOps and cloud environments.
• Fluent in German or English (at least C1 level).

Required Technical Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS and Azure.
• Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Proficient in microservices architectures and API-centric systems.
• Strong experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps best practices.
• Background in sectors like banking, insurance, automotive, or industrial projects.
• Desirable certifications include AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert.
