Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, the Porter will provide safe and efficient transportation of patients, medications, laboratory specimens, equipment, and charts within the healthcare facility.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or GED is mandatory.
• Previous experience in healthcare settings is essential; experience in portering is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage respectfully and confidentially with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and staff.
• Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to prioritize and adjust duties as needed.
• Proven ability to collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently.
• Strict adherence to confidentiality concerning patient, staff, and organizational information.
• Basic computer proficiency is advantageous.
• Current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is required.
• Recent Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training or certification is considered beneficial.
• Multilingual abilities, especially in French, are desirable.

Work Schedule and Assignment

• This is a temporary full-time hourly position with a long-term assignment expected to last about 12 months.
• The workload comprises approximately 75 hours every two weeks.
• Shift patterns include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly wages range from $21.68 to $23.36. Eligible employees may access a benefits package that features health, dental, travel insurance, long-term disability, life insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
