Daycare Kitchen Assistant

About the Role

Joining the Kids & Company team under the guidance of the Centre Director, you will play a vital role in supporting daily kitchen operations. Your duties will focus on food preparation and cooking aligned with Kids & Company's standards and mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Help portion and deliver meals and snacks to classrooms, ensuring timely and safe food distribution.
• Support food prep tasks including fruit cutting and other kitchen-related assignments.
• Prepare and arrange meal service materials such as bins, serving items, and delivery carts.
• Gather dishes, utensils, and meal equipment from classrooms after service.
• Clean, rinse, sanitize, and properly store kitchenware and food service equipment following food safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in kitchen areas, equipment, storage spaces, and meal service items.
• Assist in organizing, storing, and rotating inventory of food products and kitchen supplies.
• Comply with all food safety, sanitation, allergy awareness, and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with the Cook and Centre Director to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Undertake additional duties to support overall kitchen functioning as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of two years’ experience in a Kitchen Assistant position.
• High School diploma or GED equivalency mandatory.
• Possession of a current Food Handler Certification or a readiness to acquire one.
• Previous exposure to a daycare setting is advantageous.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Excellent verbal communication capabilities.
• Successful completion of a clean criminal background check.
• Physical capability to lift, push, and pull weights up to 45 pounds.
