Role Overview

The Night Porter plays a crucial role in supporting the Night Manager and the wider night team to ensure guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience during their stay. This position requires attentiveness to guest needs, safety, and smooth night operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage check-in for guests arriving late at night, ensuring comfort and catering to any food and beverage requests.
• Provide porterage services, assist with room and bar service as needed by guests.
• Carry out cleaning and other tasks assigned by the Front Office Manager or Night Auditor following daily, weekly, or monthly schedules.
• Adhere strictly to licensing restrictions concerning bar service.
• Conduct and record fire and safety procedures as part of assigned responsibilities.
• Monitor premises for security and safety hazards, including machinery, doors, and equipment like gas fires and cookers.
• Perform Night Audit procedures if required.
• Facilitate check-outs occurring before the front desk opens in the morning.

Health and Safety

• Exercise due care for personal health and safety, and that of colleagues, guests, and others present in the facility.
• Maintain a tidy and safe work environment and promptly report any accidents, hazards, losses, or damages to management.
• Be knowledgeable about first aid personnel and first aid box locations on site.
• Comply with all workplace safety policies, including the Health & Safety Statement.
• Immediately report all identified hazards.
• Understand and participate in hotel fire, emergency, and bomb procedures.
• Work in a manner that avoids injury to self or others, anticipating and mitigating potential risks.
• Maintain high personal standards of hygiene, appropriate uniform, appearance, and conduct.
