Police Dispatch Communications Supervisor

Job Overview

The Town of Bel Air is seeking a dedicated Police Dispatch Communications Supervisor to join the Bel Air Police Department on a full-time basis. This supervisory role involves managing the Police Communications Operators within the Communications Center, ensuring smooth emergency and non-emergency communication operations, and maintaining adherence to all relevant federal, state, local, and departmental policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Directly oversee, coordinate, train, and appraise Police Communications Operators assigned to the Communications Center.
• Ensure efficient and effective handling of emergency and routine communication services for the Police Department.
• Monitor daily operational activities and maintain quality of service within the Communications Center.
• Coordinate training programs and maintain operational readiness during normal shifts, critical incidents, emergencies, and special events.
• Exercise independent judgment and decision-making in a demanding public safety environment.
• Report directly to the Chief of Police or their designee.
• Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and be available for emergency call-back assignments.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Have at least four years of progressively responsible experience in public safety dispatch or police communications.
• Hold a minimum of two years experience functioning at a senior or advanced level equivalent to Police Communications Operator II.
• Maintain current certification and authorization for METERS, NCIC, and CJIS systems access.
• Successfully completed departmental communications training and able to acquire and retain all necessary departmental certifications.
• Capable of working rotating shifts with flexibility for weekends, holidays, and emergency call-backs.

Job Details

• Salary range: $56,618 to $99,467 annually.
