Planner & Scheduler

About the Role

This position involves playing a vital role in coordinating maintenance activities for a variety of statutory and operationally important Utilities assets spread across several mine sites and the Tom Price township. The role ensures maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption. Using your trade and planning skills, you'll create maintenance strategies, detailed equipment plans, and schedules for critical systems such as fixed fire protection, electrical infrastructure, water treatment and distribution, wastewater plants, hydrocarbon storage, and related Utilities infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Create equipment maintenance plans, strategies, and detailed schedules aligned with operational needs, compliance requirements, and resource availability.
• Collaborate with supervisors, tradespeople, and contractors to develop actionable maintenance schedules ensuring readiness for safe execution.
• Manage and prioritize work orders based on asset importance, safety, regulatory obligations, and operational risks.
• Maintain all planning and scheduling data within SAP, including maintenance plans, work instructions, task lists, bills of materials, and asset master records.
• Coordinate resources including labour, equipment, materials, and contractors to support maintenance of fire protection, electrical, water, wastewater, and hydrocarbon assets.
• Monitor schedule adherence, performance of work orders, and backlog health, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
• Partner with maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and vendors to address planning challenges and enhance work management.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost management to ensure accurate planning of labour, material, and contractor costs.
• Provide maintenance performance reports and insights to support operational, shutdown, compliance, and long-term asset management planning.

Candidate Profile

• Strong commitment to safety for self and team.
• Trade qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, or related) with proven maintenance experience in heavy industrial, mining or utilities settings.
• At least 3-5 years working as a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler supporting fixed plant, utilities, processing, infrastructure, or heavy industry assets.
• Proficiency with SAP PM and maintenance management systems for plan development, scheduling, and backlog management.
• Deep knowledge of maintenance planning principles including resource allocation, materials management, contractor coordination, and outage planning.
• Experience designing maintenance plans for statutory and compliance-based programs, particularly fixed fire protection systems.
• Understanding of Australian standards and legal requirements for inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection and statutory equipment.
• Ability to analyse asset performance data and failure trends to optimize maintenance and reliability.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills for working with operational, technical, and contractor teams.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling maintenance expenses.

Additional Advantages

• Experience in electrical distribution, fire protection, water and wastewater treatment, hydrocarbon storage, or similar Utilities infrastructure.
• Familiarity with asset management and reliability-centered maintenance frameworks.
• Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Project or similar planning and reporting tools.
