About the Role

Join a leading mining company as an Inspector Access Roads, tasked with inspecting and maintaining access roads supporting rail maintenance. This position emphasizes early detection of road, drainage, and access risks to ensure safety and availability for maintenance operations on Australia's largest privately operated heavy-haul rail network.

This role operates on a FIFO roster from Perth to Dampier, with an eight days on, six days off schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled inspections of rail access roads, tracks, crossings, drainage, signage, laydown areas, and related infrastructure.
• Identify and report issues such as erosion, ponding, washouts, surface damage, drainage blockages, and access hazards.
• Evaluate road conditions for their impact on safe maintenance access, emergency response capabilities, equipment transport, and operational preparedness.
• Promptly escalate urgent access risks, unsafe conditions, and environmental concerns according to specified timelines.
• Document inspection findings with records, photos, defect notifications, measurements, and prioritize recommendations using prescribed systems.
• Support maintenance teams by providing field insights for maintenance scope creation, priority setting, and remediation planning.
• Confirm quality and effectiveness of maintenance work in restoring safe and reliable access and proper drainage.
• Collaborate with civil, earthworks, planning, operations, and rail maintenance teams to enhance safety, efficiency, and work quality.

Candidate Profile

• Strong commitment to personal and team safety standards.
• Proven experience inspecting access roads, civil works, earthworks, or infrastructure within safety-critical environments.
• Knowledge of typical road defects, drainage challenges, erosion control, and required maintenance actions.
• Ability to assess vehicle movement risks, maintenance readiness, and emergency response issues related to access roads.
• Familiarity with inspection management systems, SAP notifications, or similar platforms to record defects and provide evidence.
• Skill in preparing clear, concise field observation reports including photographs and risk escalations for maintenance planning.
• Relevant competencies, licences, or qualifications to safely conduct inspections within rail corridors.
• Experience interpreting road maintenance scopes, civil engineering standards, and remediation needs.
• Understanding of rail access logistics, environmental compliance, and critical risk management principles.

The role supports operations on the largest privately owned and operated heavy haul rail network in Australia, covering over 220 locomotives and nearly 2,000 km of track in the Pilbara. The network transports ore from 18 mines to four port terminals.
