About the Role
Mears Group PLC, the UK's leading provider of repairs, maintenance, and regeneration services, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Planner to join our local repairs team in Peterborough. This permanent full-time role involves ensuring efficient scheduling of repair work, optimal allocation to operatives, and timely completion of jobs with excellent standards. As a critical communication link among residents, operatives, and internal teams, the Planner will contribute significantly to delivering a responsive and customer-focused repairs service.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize schedules for operatives and subcontractors to maximize resource utilization and ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Maintain up-to-date records of repair jobs daily, including managing appointments, follow-up tasks, and overdue jobs.
- Assist in supporting IT systems usage by ensuring operatives update their PDAs and correct input of schedule of rates.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, operatives, and stakeholders to keep all parties informed.
- Collaborate closely with administrators, supervisors, and contractors to maintain uninterrupted service delivery.
- Provide cover for fellow planners when required, and participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Strictly adhere to company policies and Health & Safety standards.
- Support reporting and monitor performance to meet KPIs and targets.
- Prioritize emergency and urgent repairs to reduce resident disruption.
- Keep accurate data, records, and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Suggest improvements to streamline planning and scheduling processes.
- Offer general administrative assistance to the repairs team as needed.
Candidate Criteria
- Previous experience performing similar planning duties within repairs or maintenance.
- Minimum GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with job management and scheduling software.
- Excellent skills in time management, organization, and communication.
- A commitment to a customer-first mindset with capability to manage challenging scenarios effectively.
- Knowledgeable about repairs and maintenance procedures.
- Experience scheduling multi-trade repairs using ICT appointment systems.
